Addis Ababa is now hosting the Green Way Classic Cycling competition as part of the City Mountain Bike Eliminator Pro League International Race to take place in the Ethiopian Capital on May 3, 2026.
The international Race is expected to strengthen Addis Ababa’s reputation as a growing sports tourism destination.
The city’s ongoing investment in sports facilities helps attract major international competitions. A clear example is this prestigious cycling event, which will be held in Africa for the first time tomorrow bringing global attention to the capital.
Today’s 90 km race starts and ends at the Bole Sheger Building, passing through areas like Bole Biras, Bole Michael, Bole Medhanialem, and Kasanches Temama Fok before returning to the starting point. With an estimated global audience of over 20 million viewers, the event provides a significant chance to improve Ethiopia’s international image and promote its tourism potential.
