Every year, large numbers of domestic and international visitors travel to Gondar to celebrate the festival.
Gondar City Administration Deputy Mayor, Chalachew Dagne, stated that the month of Tir(January ) is a time when Gondar truly comes alive, marked by unforgettable events and a distinctive festive atmosphere.
The deputy mayor emphasized that Timket in Gondar is a unique public festival where diversity is showcased in unity, and where culture, tradition, history, and Ethiopian identity stand out together. The deputy mayor affirmed that extensive preparations have been made to celebrate this year’s Timket festival in a special manner.
According to him, more than two million guests are expected to attend the celebrations. Taking this into consideration, comprehensive preparations have been completed to welcome guests.
The deputy mayor further stated that the city administration has held discussions with youth, religious leaders, and community elders about the upcoming events going to be held in Gondar city.
It is stated that the ongoing corridor development in Godar will add special beauty to this year’s Timket festival.
The deputy Mayor noted beyond the festival itself, visitors will have the opportunity to explore Gondar’s renovated ancient heritage sites, further enriching their experience of the historic city.
Concluding his remarks, the deputy mayor extended a heartfelt invitation to Ethiopians around the world to come to Gondar, take part in the Timket celebrations, and enjoy the diverse events planned throughout the month of Tir(January)
