FM Gedion Receives Japanese Delegation Led by State Minister for Foreign Affairs

Minister of Foreign Affairs Gedion Timothewos received at his office today a delegation led by Kunimitsu Ayano, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan.

During the meeting, FM Gedion stated that Ethiopia and Japan enjoy historic relations and maintain strong cooperation at both bilateral and multilateral levels, and expressed Ethiopia’s appreciation for Japan’s longstanding development assistance.

FM Gedion noted that relations between the two countries have continued to strengthen, particularly in the areas of trade and investment, underscoring the need to further expand economic cooperation.

State Minister Kunimitsu Ayano, for her part, emphasized the importance of sustaining and deepening Ethiopia–Japan collaboration in trade and investment.

As part of the delegation’s visit, FM Gedion provided a comprehensive briefing to a group of 48 business representatives from over 35 Japanese companies, outlining Ethiopia’s favorable trade and investment opportunities and the benefits of ongoing macroeconomic reforms.

State Minister Kunimitsu Ayano welcomed the briefing and noted that the delegation would participate in the Ethiopia–Japan Business Forum to be held tomorrow, which is expected to further strengthen economic ties between the two countries as Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia reported it.
