Ethiopian Diaspora in Canada, Partners Donate Over 50,000 Books to Abrhot Library

Ethiopian Diaspora in Edmonton, Canada, and Partners have donated Over 50,000 Books to Abrhot Library in Addis Ababa.

Serving as a dynamic center of knowledge and learning, the library welcomes more than 10,000 readers daily and has attracted millions of visitors over the past four years, reflecting its growing impact and national significance. The newly donated books are expected to further strengthen its mission.

Speaking at the book handover ceremony, Ambassador Fitsum Arega, Director General of the Ethiopian Diaspora Service, emphasized that books play an irreplaceable role in expanding knowledge, combating poverty, and enabling individuals to understand themselves through reading.

The Ambassador noted that the support will provide students, particularly those facing academic challenges, with access to supplementary reading materials that enhance their knowledge and broaden their understanding.

On his part, Abrhot Library Director General Muluken Tariku said more than 50,000 books were donated in total by the diaspora communities and parners and expressed his gratitude to the Ethiopians involved in this generous initiative.

Representatives and coordinators involved in the book initiative expressed their deep satisfaction in contributing to a noble cause that empowers the younger generation to draw from lasting and transformative knowledge.

They further reaffirmed their commitment to expanding and strengthening their support in the years ahead.
