Commissioner of the Ethiopian Investment Commission, Zeleke Temesgen(PhD), held discussions with the Ambassador of Finland to Ethiopia, Sinikka Antila, on ways to facilitate the participation of Finnish investors in various investment opportunities in Ethiopia.
During the discussion, Commissioner Zeleke Temesgen stated that Ethiopia has been undertaking extensive reform measures aimed at improving the investment climate and building a private sector-led economy.

The Commissioner noted that the legal reforms introduced by the government, along with the establishment of new institutions such as Ethiopian Investment Holdings and the Capital Market, have made the investment environment more attractive. He also explained that the Public-Private Dialogue (PPD) platform has helped create a conducive environment for investors by addressing existing challenges.
Highlighting the tangible outcomes of these reforms, the Commissioner pointed out that Ethiopia currently ranks as the second-largest destination for foreign direct investment in Africa.
He further emphasized that this is an opportune and favorable time to invest in Ethiopia and called on Finnish investors to take advantage of the opportunities available in the country.

For her part, Ambassador of Finland to Ethiopia Sinikka Antila praised the government’s extensive efforts to improve the investment climate, including legal reforms and new initiatives such as the Public-Private Dialogue (PPD) platform.
She also stated that Finnish companies have shown strong interest in investing particularly in the technology, education, health, and Bishoftu International Airport development sectors.
The discussion platform was attended by Finnish Ambassadors based in Kenya and Tanzania, business attachés from the Finnish Embassies in Ethiopia, Kenya, and Tanzania, as well as representatives of Finnish companies as to Ethiopian investment commission.
