In a message shared on her official social media page, Ethiopiaβs Minister of Health, Dr. Mekdes Daba, stated that Ethiopia has demonstrated strong and active participation at the 79th World Health Assembly currently taking place in Geneva, Switzerland, contributing to key discussions shaping the future of global health.
The Minister noted that Ethiopia took part in discussions focused on sustainable health financing, capacity building for health professionals, health emergency preparedness and response, treatment of non-communicable diseases, particularly cancer care, as well as maternal and child health, nutrition, digital health, and other related issues.
βWe shared Ethiopiaβs healthcare sector reforms, experiences, and future priorities for collaboration and focus,β Dr. Mekdes stated.
Alongside the conference, the Minister also held bilateral meetings with the Global Fund, Gavi Alliance, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the Gates Foundation, and other partner organizations.
According to Dr. Mekdes, the discussions were valuable in advancing Ethiopiaβs priority health agendas, strengthening mutual understanding, and transforming cooperation into tangible results.
Finally, the Minister reaffirmed Ethiopiaβs commitment to working closely with all stakeholders to build a fair, resilient, and accessible healthcare system across the country.
