As part of Ethiopiaβs ongoing negotiations to accede to the World Trade Organization (WTO), Ethiopia and the Republic of India signed a Bilateral Market Access Protocol in Geneva today. The agreement marks a major milestone in Ethiopiaβs journey toward integration into the multilateral global trading system.
The Protocol concludes the long-standing bilateral negotiations between the two countries and includes mutually agreed market access commitments and benefits in both goods and services sectors.
The Protocol was signed by Ambassador Tsegab Kebebew Kebebew, Permanent Representative of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to the United Nations Office and other International Organizations in Geneva, and Senthil Pandian, Permanent Representative of the Republic of India to the WTO.
During the signing ceremony, both sides emphasized that the agreement reflects the shared commitment of Ethiopia and India to building a transparent, rules-based, and development-oriented multilateral trading system, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia.
