In a message shared on her official social media page, Addis Ababa Mayor Adanech Abiebie announced that the city administration has officially launched the implementation of its 90-day government and party work plan following discussions with leaders from across the city.
“Following the election period, we are committed to swiftly returning our full attention to work, delivering rapid results, implementing both ongoing and new initiatives, and responding to the questions and concerns raised by our community. We will execute this plan with exceptional dedication, tireless effort, and special focus,” the Mayor stated.
The Mayor noted that the city’s major priorities during the 90-day period, from June 16 to September 10, will include addressing the good governance challenges identified during the election campaign period; strengthening service delivery through the expansion of the Mesob One-Stop Digital Service Center; stabilizing the rising cost of living; and improving the regulation of the trade system.
Other key focus areas include creating employment opportunities and enhancing the participation and benefits of youth and women; advancing the Green Legacy Initiative, urban agriculture, and the Yelemat Tirufat program; undertaking peace-building activities; improving revenue collection; reducing dependency and begging; implementing volunteer programs through coordinated community participation; and reinvigorating the Ethiopia Tamirt Movement.
The administration also plans to complete unfinished projects and finalize the ongoing corridor and riverbank development projects while ensuring quality standards and adherence to the allocated time and budget.
In addition, Mayor Adanech stated that the city administration is prepared to strengthen media and public relations activities and effectively implement other priority initiatives.
“At the same time, we will give focused attention to completing the 2018 Ethiopian fiscal year performance review and preparing the 2019 fiscal year plan,” the Mayor said.
According to the Mayor, strong monitoring and support mechanisms will be put in place throughout the planning and implementation process to ensure that the new budget year enables the administration to serve residents more effectively and further advance Addis Ababa’s journey toward becoming a symbol of prosperity.
