Apple Representatives Discuss Investment Opportunities with Ethiopian Investment Commission Officials

The Deputy Commissioners of the Ethiopian Investment Commission, Dagato Kumbe and Zinabu Yirga, held discussions with representatives from Apple, the world’s largest technology company. The visiting delegation included Ali Khanafen, Apple’s Global Head of Public Policy for Emerging Markets, and Alfa Barry, Head of Public Policy and Government Affairs for Africa.

During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioners highlighted Ethiopia’s promising Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector, as well as the government’s strong focus on building a digital economy. They specifically called upon influential institutions like Apple to invest in the country, leveraging Ethiopia’s vast market potential and its skilled youth workforce.

Furthermore, the Deputy Commissioners emphasized that through its “Digital 2030 Strategy,” the development of the ICT Park, and the liberalization of the telecom and trading sectors to foreign companies, Ethiopia is actively working to become a preferred technology investment hub in Africa.

On his part, Apple representative Ali Khanafen commended Ethiopia’s rapid growth and policy reforms in the technology sector. He confirmed that as part of the company’s efforts to expand its reach in emerging markets, Apple is keen to closely examine Ethiopia’s favorable conditions and looks forward to exploring collaborative opportunities.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Ethiopian Investment Commission assured the Apple delegation of its readiness to provide all necessary support and follow-up facilitation for their potential investments, according to Ethiopian investment commission.
