Addis Ababa Mayor Adanech Abiebie said the city administration has translated its vision into tangible results through determination, teamwork, and a strong culture of performance, achieving more than 96 percent of its planned targets.

In a message shared on her official social media page following the conclusion of a three-day review of the 2026 Fiscal Year performance and the implementation of the city’s Five-Year Strategic Plan, the Mayor said the assessment demonstrated that the administration had delivered significant progress across multiple sectors.

“The evaluation showed that our transformed 24/7 work culture, combined with dedication and teamwork, enabled us to effectively implement our strategic goals,” she said. “It also helped us identify key successes to build on, as well as areas that require improvement, allowing us to deliver even better results in the years ahead.”

Reflecting on the past five years, Mayor Adanech said the city administration has focused on addressing governance challenges by digitalizing public service delivery and improving institutional efficiency.

She highlighted the launch of the Mesob Digital One-Stop Government Service Center as one of the administration’s flagship achievements during the current fiscal year, describing it as a major step toward modernizing government services and improving accessibility for residents.

The Mayor also emphasized the city’s commitment to inclusive and people-centered development, noting that programs targeting children, students, women, youth, and older citizens were implemented to ensure that no segment of society was left behind while advancing social justice.

According to the Mayor, the city created 2.2 million jobs over the past five years, strengthened its revenue collection system, and completed more than 60,000 development projects with quality and efficiency.

She added that these efforts have transformed Addis Ababa into a cleaner, greener, and more beautiful city while enhancing its ability to serve residents and fulfill its growing national, continental, and international responsibilities. As a result, she said, the Ethiopian capital has gained greater recognition on both the African and global stage. Despite these achievements, Mayor Adanech acknowledged that important challenges remain.

She said the city administration will continue working to strengthen leadership effectiveness, improve ethical standards, and enhance information management. Looking ahead, the administration will intensify efforts to curb the rising cost of living and market distortions, expand employment opportunities, promote cleanliness as a lasting civic culture, modernize public services, strengthen the Mesob Digital One-Stop Service Center, improve housing, transportation, roads, and water supply, and accelerate urban renewal initiatives.

The Mayor reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to sustaining the city’s development momentum with greater quality, scale, and speed.

“Building a strong government will remain our top priority,” she said, adding that the city administration remains committed to serving the people with integrity, honesty, dedication, and unwavering commitment.
