Ethiopian Airlines Reports Record $9.1 Billion Revenue, Unveils Expansion Plans

Ethiopian Airlines Group has announced a strong performance for the 2025/26 fiscal year, reporting $9.1 billion in revenue, a 20% increase compared with the previous fiscal year and 9% above its planned target.

Speaking at a press conference, Group Chief Executive Officer Mesfin Tasew said the airline achieved significant growth across its passenger, cargo, and infrastructure operations.

During the fiscal year, Ethiopian Airlines expanded its international network to 150 destinations, launching four new international routes. Looking ahead, the airline plans to open six additional international destinations in the next fiscal year as part of its continued global expansion strategy.

The airline also recorded strong operational performance, flying 20.7 million flight hours and transporting more than 897,000 tonnes of cargo during the year.

According to the CEO, Ethiopian Airlines continues to invest in expanding both domestic and international destinations while strengthening aviation infrastructure.

He also noted that construction of the airline’s new mega airport in Bishoftu is progressing well. In addition, the airline is advancing its aerospace manufacturing initiatives and has begun exporting aerospace components to Boeing, marking another milestone in the company’s efforts to diversify its business and strengthen Ethiopia’s position in the global aviation industry.
