African Health Ministers Praise Ethiopia’s Advances in Artificial Intelligence

Health ministers from various countries participating in the 76th session of the World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Committee for Africa visited the Ethiopian Artificial Intelligence Institute.

The visitors said they had never seen such a level of development in artificial intelligence in Africa. They also emphasized that other African countries have much to learn from the Institute.

The health ministers said Ethiopia has demonstrated its capabilities in an impressive manner. They noted that the innovative work being carried out by the Institute reflects its vision.

Taye Girma(PhD), Deputy Director General of the Ethiopian Artificial Intelligence Institute, briefed the visitors on the research and development achievements being recorded in the health, agriculture, and other sectors.

In his presentation, he noted that the Institute is carrying out numerous activities as a center of excellence for Africa.

He also explained the Institute’s construction of a large-scale, internationally recognized data center and the cloud service it provides to various institutions. The visitors were additionally briefed on Ethiopia’s national AI policy and the support being provided to startups, according to Ethiopian Artificial Intelligence Institute.
