The Summer Volunteer Service Recognition and Award Program is being held at Addis international convention center in Addis Ababa.
Addis Ababa City Administration has awarded summer volunteers who have been engaged in various volunteer activities in the concluded fiscal year in 2017E.C
Speaking at the Program, Addis Ababa City Administration community participation and voluntarism coordination commission commissioner Yimer kebede said through community participation and summer volunteer service the city has saved over 42 billion birr which will be spend in the concluded fiscal year.
Mayor Adanech Abiebie on her part stated that the summer volunteer service has been run by the Non-Governmental organizations working in and out of the country. However, this narrative is completely changed by the government of Ethiopia these days.
Speaking at the award and recognition program, Adanech said under the visionary leadership of his excellence Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed(PhD) over 40 thousand residential apartments are built and handed over for beneficiaries in the city in the concluded fiscal year alone.
Mayor of the City reaffirmed that Millions of volunteer service providers are still giving service from September to September in different sectors in the city.
Finally, the Mayor urged summer volunteers to continue providing volunteer service in strengthened manner in the the city.
The summer volunteers service award and recognition program is underway with the presence of speaker of the house of peoples representatives of FDRE, and guest of honor Tagesse chafo, Buzena Alkadir, Speaker of Addis Ababa City council, Jantirar Abay, Deputy Mayor of Addis Ababa City, Moges Balcha, Addis Ababa City Prosperity Party Branch office Head, senior government officials of the city administration and invited guests.
