Addis Ababa is undergoing significant transformation through corridor development, urban redevelopment and riverside projects, with improvements in infrastructure, cleanliness and urban aesthetics.

Roads have been widened and street lighting expanded, while dedicated pedestrian walkways and bicycle lanes have been developed across the city.Parking facilities have also been expanded in various locations, helping avoid roadside parking, improve traffic flow and enhance the overall appearance of the city.

According to the Mayorโ€™s Office, Addis Ababaโ€™s green coverage has increased from 2.8 percent to 24 percent.

The city has also gained recognition as one of Africaโ€™s ten cleanest cities.

The improvements in infrastructure and urban services are contributing to the cityโ€™s growing capacity to host international conferences, meetings and visitors, while further strengthening its role as a diplomatic hub.

The city has also significantly reduced its urban slum areas, bringing the proportion down from 74 percent to 30 percent.Despite the progress achieved, the Mayorโ€™s Office says further work is needed to sustain the transformation.

It reiterates that priorities identified for the coming budget year will focus on making Addis Ababa more livable for residents and strengthening its competitiveness on the international stage.
