Addis Ababa City Mayor Adanech Abiebie has announced the launch of the construction of a modern residential village for the Addis Ababa City Police.
In a message shared on her official social media platform, the mayor stated, “We have launched the construction of a modern residential village for the Addis Ababa City Police.”

She explained that the project is part of the city administration’s broader institutional reform efforts within the police force and fulfills its commitment to build a dedicated residential village for police officers. The initiative is intended to enable members of the police to carry out the public trust placed in them more effectively.

According to the mayor, the housing project comprises 12 fifteen-storey residential buildings for police officers serving the rapidly growing and modernizing capital. She noted that Addis Ababa is the diplomatic hub of Africa and the third-largest diplomatic city in the world.
Mayor Adanech said the project is designed to ease the social and economic burdens faced by police officers, allowing them to serve the public with greater dedication, efficiency, and care.

She added that the city administration will continue strengthening its support for the police commission by enhancing officers’ technical skills, professional knowledge, and technological capacity, while advancing ongoing reforms aimed at improving the welfare and living conditions of members of the force.
