The Ethiopian National Dialogue Commission has begun briefing participants at the Adwa Victory Memorial on the national dialogue process and their expected roles and responsibilities.
4,000 participants are expected to take part in the National Dialogue Conference, scheduled to begin on July 15, 2026, to deliberate on and propose solutions to the selected agenda items.

Participants from across Ethiopia have been arriving in Addis Ababa over the past several days to attend the conference.
During the briefing, the Commission explained that the National Dialogue Conference will be conducted in three phases.
Chief Commissioner of the Ethiopian National Dialogue Commission, Professor Mesfin Araya, said participants have been entrusted with the important responsibility of identifying solutions to the country’s fundamental national challenges through dialogue.

“The dialogue is a platform where we can collectively discuss and seek solutions for both our single and shared narratives,” Professor Mesfin said.
He also reminded participants that, just as Ethiopians united 130 years ago to resist subjugation and defend the country’s sovereignty, the present generation has a responsibility to engage in dialogue to strengthen peace.

The awareness and orientation sessions for participants will continue over the coming days.
The National Dialogue Conference is expected to focus on eight major agenda items that have been identified through the dialogue process and is scheduled to officially commence on July 15, 2026.
