Ethiopia Partakes in the 4th Continental Dialogue on Youth, Peace and Security in Africa

Ethiopia, representing East African Member States of the AU Peace and Security Council, participated in the 4th Continental Dialogue on Youth, Peace and Security in Africa, held in Bujumbura from 11–13 December 2025 under the theme “Beyond Rhetoric: Youth Empowerment and Engagement in Sustainable Development, Agrifood Systems, and Mineral Value Chains.”

Rediet Yonas, Ethiopia’s representative, delivered remarks during a panel discussion on Youth Empowerment in Agrifood Systems and Mineral Value Chains.

Rediet reaffirmed Ethiopia’s strong commitment to the Youth, Peace and Security Agenda, emphasizing that empowering young people in these sectors is vital for strengthening peace, economic resilience, and sustainable development across the continent.

She further highlighted Ethiopia’s contributions in the transformation of agricultural sector in Africa, particularly through the leadership of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed in his role as CAADP Champion. In addition, she underscored the progress Ethiopia has made through the implementation of key national initiatives such as the Green Legacy initiative, National Agricultural Investment Plan (NAIP) and the significant gains in wheat production.
