Ethiopian Election Board Urges Media to Ensure Equal Access for All Political Parties.

Addis Media Network, in collaboration with Addis Ababa Political Parties Joint Council, has organized a panel discussion titled “Election and Media” for key stakeholders as part of ongoing efforts to promote a transparent, inclusive, and credible electoral process ahead of Ethiopia’s upcoming Seventh General Election.

Speaking at the panel discussion, the Deputy Board Chairperson of the Ethiopian National Election Board stated that the Board has finalized all necessary preparations to conduct a successful, credible, and nationwide election.

The Deputy board Chairperson emphasized that the media must provide equitable access to all contesting political parties, enabling them to present their programs and policy agendas to the public without bias.

Speaking on the role of the media during the electoral process, Tesfaye underscored the importance of responsible journalism, noting that media institutions should act as watchdogs, identifying and correcting misinformation to ensure the public receives accurate and reliable information.

Tesfaye further called on all contending political parties to refrain from rhetoric that could inflame tensions or incite conflict among citizens.

Deputy Chairperson of the National Election Board of Ethiopia, Tesfaye Niway, announced that 48 political parties are set to compete in Ethiopia’s Seventh General Election.

A panel discussion titled “Election and Media” was presented to key stakeholders as part of ongoing efforts to promote a transparent and credible electoral process.

On the occasion, leaders and representatives of the contending political parties expressed their appreciation to Addis Media Network and the Addis Ababa Political Parties Joint Council for organizing a timely and constructive panel discussion centered on the role of the media in the electoral process.

The panel has brought together representatives from the National Election Board of Ethiopia, media institutions, political parties, civil society organizations, and other relevant actors to deliberate on the critical role of the media during the election period.
