The Hili UAE–Africa Dialogue Conference officially held in Addis Ababa under the theme “Advancing a Shared Future,” bringing together diplomats, policymakers, researchers, and business leaders from across Africa and the United Arab Emirates to explore avenues for deeper cooperation and sustainable development.
Delivering the opening remarks, Jafar Bedru, Executive Director of the Institute of Foreign Affairs, emphasized the importance of strengthening Ethiopia–UAE relations through research-driven institutional collaboration.

He noted that the conference provides a valuable platform for fostering strategic partnerships and advancing mutual interests in key sectors, including trade, minerals, research, maritime affairs, and port development.
The UAE Chargé d’Affaires to Ethiopia, Rashed Al Shamsi, highlighted the significant progress achieved in bilateral relations and reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to expanding investments in digital infrastructure, agriculture, and business partnerships across Ethiopia and the wider African continent.

The two-day conference has drawn high-level participation from government officials, academics, and private-sector representatives, including Getachew Reda, Advisor to the Prime Minister on East African Affairs.
Participants are expected to engage in substantive discussions aimed at identifying new opportunities for cooperation, strengthening economic ties, and laying the groundwork for future agreements that will further enhance UAE–Africa relations and shared economic growth.
