Following casting his ballot in Beshasha, Jimma Zone, Ethiopia’s Prime Minister, Abiy Ahmed, stated in an interview with the media that his party is ready to accept the outcome of the election.

He said Ethiopians had once again demonstrated remarkable courage and commitment during a critical moment in the nation’s history by participating in the voting process from the early hours of the morning and patiently queuing to cast their ballots.

According to the Prime Minister, the public’s strong turnout reflected their determination to make independent decisions about the country’s future without being influenced by external advice or intimidation . He noted that their participation demonstrated a collective commitment to nation-building and the strengthening of Ethiopia’s democratic system.

The Prime Minister expressed confidence that Ethiopia would look significantly different within the next five years. He said achieving such transformation would require greater effort, fresh ideas, and stronger collaboration than ever before. He emphasized that the coming years would mark a historic shift for the country and that Ethiopians would not see the same Ethiopia they know today.

He added that more work and dedication are needed to build an Ethiopia that is transformed, economically self-reliant, not dependent on foreign aid, and capable of serving as an anchor nation in the region.

The Prime Minister also urged all candidates to prepare themselves for the responsibilities that come with public office, stressing that those elected would bear a great responsibility in serving the nation.

He noted that Ethiopia is an ancient nation and that its people possess a deep understanding of government and political systems, as well as a strong tradition of unity in times of national necessity. Throughout history, Ethiopians have demonstrated their willingness to mobilize, stand together, and make sacrifices when circumstances demand it. Consequently, it is impossible to easily subdue or compel these people to surrender their convictions through minor propaganda campaigns, the Prime Minister said.

He further stated that respecting the people, serving those who entrusted leaders with their votes, and improving citizens’ lives would make everyone winners regardless of the election outcome.

He described the election period as a remarkable moment in Ethiopia’s democratic advancement and stressed that sustained efforts by all stakeholders would be necessary to strengthen these democratic gains.

The Prime Minister called on those who emerge victorious to serve the country with honesty and integrity, while urging those who do not win to accept the election results peacefully.

The Prime Minister expressed his party’s readiness to accept the outcome of the election. He also conveyed his appreciation to the Ethiopian public for their courage and participation, as well as to election officials and members of the media for their contributions to the electoral process.

Concluding his remarks, the Prime Minister said Ethiopians would continue working together to build a strong and prosperous nation.
