In a message shared on her official social media page, Addis Ababa Mayor Adanech Abiebie announced that the city has officially inaugurated the Adwa Business and Transport Terminal, located in the heart of Piazza, and opened it for public service.

According to the Mayor, the area formerly known as “Doro Manekiya” has been completely redeveloped, modernized, and beautified into a state-of-the-art multifunctional center featuring more than 101 business shops, a two-level underground parking facility, taxi and bus terminals, cafés and restaurants, electric vehicle charging stations, as well as a modern plaza and fountain.

The Mayor stated that the center is also equipped with two modern elevators, office spaces, a clinic and pharmacy, advanced fire safety systems, and modern security monitoring technologies. She added that the shops and cafeterias have been distributed through a lottery system to local residents and small business operators in the area.

Mayor Adanech emphasized that the Adwa Business and Transport Terminal was designed to provide residents, who previously faced overcrowding, congestion, discomfort, and exposure to sun, rain, and dust, with a clean, comfortable, organized, and modern public transportation service.

The Mayor further reaffirmed that Piazza is the birthplace of the city’s Corridor Development initiative.

“Today, Piazza has become a historic destination where we built the Adwa Victory Memorial, representing our shared history, and where heads of state lay wreaths in honor of our heroic martyrs,” the Mayor stated.

According to the Mayor, the area has now evolved into a major urban destination enriched with modern public infrastructure and growing tourist attractions.

Finally, Mayor Adanech expressed her sincere appreciation to everyone who contributed to completing the project on schedule and according to the required quality standards, enabling it to begin serving the public today.
