At the launch of the Ethiopian National Dialogue Conference, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, former President of Nigeria and the African Union Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa, described Ethiopia’s national dialogue process as a historic occasion for the country, the IGAD region, and the African continent.
In his address, Obasanjo thanked Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) and commended him for his foresight, courage, and patriotism in advancing the national dialogue initiative.

He also acknowledged the Ethiopian National Dialogue Commission for the work it has undertaken and the preparations it has completed ahead of the dialogue process.
Commenting on Ethiopia’s efforts to pursue national dialogue, Obasanjo said he sees significant strengths and opportunities in the process.
He further highlighted Ethiopia’s long history, the diversity of its people, and their industriousness, stating that the success of the newly launched national dialogue would be important in shaping the country’s bright future.
