Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed said he met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and exchanged views on strengthening the India–Ethiopia partnership during his first official visit to India.

“It was a pleasure to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and exchange views on strengthening the India–Ethiopia partnership in my first Official Visit to India,” Prime Minister Abiy said.

“Our discussions focused on enhancing defence cooperation, technology transfer, capacity building, mining, and our partnership towards COP32. These areas hold immense potential to deepen practical cooperation and create new opportunities for our peoples,” he said.

“India and Ethiopia share deep historic ties, longstanding cultural connections, and strong bonds between our people. Yet, much of the potential between our two countries remains untapped. I believe the time is right to translate our shared history and goodwill into a more ambitious and mutually beneficial partnership which is grounded in technology, skills, investment, sustainable development, and stronger people-to-people ties,” Prime Minister Abiy said.
