Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Abiy Ahmed (PhD), has underscored the crucial role of Ethiopian intellectuals in realizing a prosperous nation by forging a shared national narrative and providing strong scholarly leadership.

The Prime Minister made the remarks while presenting a paper at a discussion forum organized in celebration of the 75th anniversary of Addis Ababa University.

In his address, the Prime Minister emphasized that intellectuals bear a responsibility to lead academically and intellectually by shaping a common vision aimed at building a prosperous, poverty-free Ethiopia.

Prime Minister Abiy noted that intellectuals play a pivotal role in lifting the country out of the cycle of poverty and steering it toward inclusive and sustainable prosperity.

The Prime Minister stressed that effective leadership begins with self-mastery, calling on intellectuals to cultivate self-discipline and moral clarity. The Prime Minister further urged intellectuals to listen to their inner voice, engage in critical reflection, and work toward both personal growth and collective success. By wisely using their knowledge, responsibility, and influence, he said, intellectuals can provide impactful, results-oriented leadership.

Highlighting the transformative power of ideas, Prime Minister Abiy stated that ideas generate movements, and movements give rise to systems. In this context, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of establishing institutional platforms that nurture, organize, and advance intellectual thought for national development.
