In a significant outcome of the 2nd Africa Political Parties Summit (APPS), convened in Addis Ababa, the Prosperity Party has been unanimously elected to lead the African Political Parties Initiative (APPI), marking an important milestone in the Party’s continental engagement and recognition, according to information released on the Party’s social media platforms.
The decision follows deliberations among a distinguished congress of leaders and representatives of leading African political parties. The Prosperity Party’s experience in state-building, economic transformation, and the philosophy of Medemer has featured prominently in the discussions, with delegates highlighting its potential to offer valuable and replicable lessons for political parties and nations across Africa.
APPI is the executive body mandated to drive the implementation of the resolutions and decisions of the Africa Political Parties Summit. Its strategic mission is to support the transformation of African political parties from predominantly electoral campaign vehicles into enduring and capable institutions that contribute to policy innovation, good governance, leadership development, and economic transformation.
This development represents significant continental recognition for both the Prosperity Party and Ethiopia, bringing the country’s development experience and Medemer-inspired state-building vision into a wider African institutional and political conversation.
Bikila Hurissa(PhD), Head of the Prosperity Party’s Political Affairs and Public Relations Sector, Minister, and Member of the Prosperity Council, has been appointed as the Executive Secretary of APPI, providing leadership to the Initiative’s executive secretariat and its continental implementation agenda.
Meanwhile, the 2nd Africa Political Parties Summit is progressing successfully and has reached its third and final day. Delegates from across Africa have expressed considerable interest in Ethiopia’s development experience and the Prosperity Party’s contribution to the country’s transformation. The highly anticipated Addis Ababa Declaration is expected to be announced today, marking a key outcome of this continental gathering.
The Summit marks an important milestone in the Prosperity Party’s continental engagement, reflects recognition of Ethiopia’s development experience, and reaffirms a shared commitment to stronger political institutions, mutual learning, and Africa’s collective prosperity.
