Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has announced the inauguration of the new terminal at Bahir Dar Dejazmach Belay Zeleke International Airport, describing it as a major milestone for one of Ethiopia’s most important aviation gateways.

In a message shared on his official social media page, the Prime Minister said the project represents far more than the construction of a modern terminal.

“Following the challenges Bahir Dar has experienced in the very recent past, it is a testament to resilience, recovery, and continued investment in the future,” he stated.

According to the Prime Minister, the new terminal significantly enhances the airport’s capacity and improves the passenger experience through expanded aircraft facilities, upgraded infrastructure, improved access roads, and modern amenities designed to meet the region’s growing demands.

He noted that, together with the ongoing urban transformation of Bahir Dar, the new terminal positions the city as an increasingly important hub for both domestic and international air travel.

Prime Minister Abiy also expressed hope that the local community will continue to safeguard peace, emphasizing that lasting stability is essential for fully realizing the economic opportunities and long-term benefits that a vibrant city like Bahir Dar can offer.
