The Rural Corridors initiative is a national program playing a pivotal role in transforming the lives of farmers and pastoralists across Ethiopia.
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has visited a model rural development site constructed in Guraferda Woreda of the South West Ethiopia Peoples’ Region by the Office of the Prime Minister in collaboration with accountable institutions.
In a message shared on his official social media platform, the Prime Minister noted that the site features ten modern housing units, each equipped with bedrooms, a kitchen, a living room, a storage space, a cattle room, and an outdoor bathroom. The homes are connected to the national electric grid and fitted with satellite dishes. The compound also includes chicken coops, cattle shelters, beehives, and gardens abundant with fruits and vegetables.
Prime Minister Abiy emphasized that the rural corridor development initiative is being implemented in an integrated manner, utilizing solar energy, biogas, and other complementary development interventions.
“This initiative has created strong opportunities for communities to embrace a modern, healthy, clean, and improved standard of living,” the Prime Minister underscored.
The Prime Minister further called on all stakeholders to play their part in expanding and ensuring the success of this transformative initiative across all regions of the country.
