Delegates from various African countries, including Ethiopia, who participated in the East African Women and Youth in Democracy Initiative (WYDE) Regional Alumni Exchange, paid a visit to the Adwa Victory Memorial, a global symbol of freedom.
During their tour, the delegates explored historical artifacts while receiving detailed briefings on the monumental contribution of the victory toward Black liberation, unity, and the spirit of Pan-Africanism.
Expressing his delight over the visit, Mr. Primus Bahiigi, Country Director of the Netherlands Institute for Multiparty Democracy (NIMD) Uganda, admired the remarkable effort made to showcase the history of Adwa to the world in such an inspiring manner.
Sharing how deeply moved he was by the historical accounts presented, Mr. Bahiigi noted that other African nations should draw inspiration from the Adwa Victory Memorial to bring their own histories to life.
“The biggest lesson we learn from the Victory of Adwa,” he stated, “is that as the people of Africa, we must stand united with commitment and determination to transform our continent and make it better for the future.”, according to the Adwa Victory Memorial.
