56 Domestic,12 International Media Institutions Set to Cover Ethiopia’s Electoral Process: NEBE

According to a statement issued by the National Election Board of Ethiopia, more than 54 million citizens are expected to cast their votes on election day, marking one of the largest electoral exercises in the country’s history.

The Board announced that 56 domestic and 12 international institutions will observe the election process, while 52,000 polling stations and over 359,000 election officials have been deployed nationwide to ensure the smooth conduct of the vote.

In support of the electoral process, an observer mission from the African Union comprising 59 members, along with a 26-member observer team from the Intergovernmental Authority on Development, has arrived in Addis Ababa.

The African Union observer mission is being led by former Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta. Members of the diplomatic community based in Addis Ababa have also been granted permission to observe the election as invited guests.

According to NEBE, 56 domestic and 12 international media institutions are set to cover the electoral process across Ethiopia, reflecting growing attention toward the country’s democratic exercise.

The Board further stated that more than 250,000 representatives of political parties will monitor the electoral process throughout the country, reinforcing transparency and broad participation in the election.
