For many years, Ethiopians faced the daily challenge of having to move from one government office to another to access public services, deal with piles of paperwork, and endure long queues. Established with the aim of sustainably addressing these inconveniences and modernizing service delivery, Mesob’s integrated one-stop service has opened a new chapter in the country’s history.
The integrated “New Mesob” Super App digital platform was officially launched and became fully operational in April 2025 by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD).
The main objective of Mesob is to connect various government services that were previously fragmented and bring them together under one roof with the support of digital technology. Users can access essential services such as passports, powers of attorney, business licenses, and document authentication either at a single service center or through the mobile application.

To create greater convenience for employees and businesspeople who are unable to access services during regular working hours, Night Service has also officially been introduced outside normal working hours.
In addition, modern Mobile Mesob Buses, which travel directly to communities to provide services and generate part of their own power through solar energy, have begun offering door-to-door services, particularly for elderly people and persons with disabilities.
Mesob is now attracting attention beyond Ethiopia and gaining international recognition. As it is increasingly regarded as a major best practice for African countries seeking to establish technology-driven government service systems, a strategy is also being developed to create digital-service linkages with Djibouti, South Sudan, and Kenya, with the broader goal of building a continent-wide digital system.
