Africa’s Diplomatic Capital, Addis Ababa, Proudly Hosts the 39th Ordinary Session of the African Union Summit
Speaking at the opening session Abiy reaffirmed that Progress is achieved when vision is translated into systems and ideas into lasting institutions.
“As we build on the African Water Vision 2025, we reflect on a simple truth: water is more than a resource. It is the foundation of development, innovation, and stability,” Prime Minister stated
Addressing at the opening session of the 39th ordinary session, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed said water shapes our cities, our farms, our health, and our peace.
Abiy sated that responsible water management is central to guiding development wisely.
The Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam now powers homes and industries, exports electricity to neighboring countries, and demonstrates how African ingenuity can drive shared prosperity.
The Prime Minister further said Across Africa, rivers can become engines of stability when governed for shared benefit.
Abiy underscored that Ethiopia’s targeted policy and innovation have enabled food self-sufficiency, while larger-scale industrial investments are moving us from dependency to production.
The 39th ordinary session of the African Union Summit is being held under the theme
“Assuring Sustainable Water Availability and Safe Sanitation Systems to Achieve the Goals of Agenda 2063,”
