Mayor of Addis Ababa, Adanech Abiebie, this morning officially flagged off the colorful 5-kilometer “Women First” road race, which drew the participation of 16,000 women on the streets of Addis Ababa.
In a message shared on her official social media page, Mayor Adanech celebrated the strength, resilience, and determination of women, affirming the spirit of the event with the message: “Women First!”
Mayor also expressed her strong belief that, by standing hand in hand, women will continue to play a vital role in advancing the country’s prosperity and shared progress.
The annual 5KM race, organized by Great Ethiopian Run, was held along the streets of the Bole–Atlas–Urael corridor development area. Mayor Adanech noted that the newly transformed and modernized setting gave this year’s event a special significance, adding that the route is exceptionally beautiful and highly suitable for the race.
In her concluding remarks, the Mayor extended her heartfelt congratulations to all participating women and encouraged them with an uplifting message: “You are all winners.”
