Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO Mesfin Tasew stated that the airline continues to strengthen its status as a continental symbol by turning challenges into opportunities throughout its 80-year journey.
The CEO noted that the airline has achieved its current level of growth and success through eight decades of continuous development and commitment.
A customer experience forum is currently underway, bringing together customers and partners to mark Ethiopian Airlines’ 80th anniversary.
The CEO also highlighted that Ethiopian Airlines, which began its international operations with its first flight to Cairo, has now expanded its global reach to 145 destinations worldwide.
Mesfin further explained that the airline now operates a fleet of 147 modern aircraft and has built a strong and reliable capacity to serve more than 20 million passengers annually.
Mesfin Tasew emphasized that Ethiopian Airlines has earned international recognition and multiple awards for its quality service, and is also constructing a large-scale airport designed to serve as a model for Africa.

Over the past 80 years, the airline has successfully overcome numerous challenges, contributing significantly to Ethiopia’s emergence as a leading tourist destination and a hub for international institutions, while maintaining its status as a continental aviation icon.
The CEO further underscored that in the past eight years alone, Ethiopian Airlines has added 74 new aircraft and ordered 117 more. As a result, the airline has doubled its passenger numbers, increased annual revenue by 120 percent, and tripled its profits.
The forum is attended by Minister of Finance Ahmed Shide, Minister of Planning and Development Fitsum Assefa(PhD), Governor of the National Bank of Ethiopia Eyob Tekalign(PhD), as well as other invited guests as to ENA reported it.
