Ethiopian Airlines Opens New Gateway to Lyon, France

Ethiopian Airlines has reached another major milestone in its global expansion with the launch of a new passenger service to Lyon, France.

The inaugural flight commenced on 2 July 2026, with the route operating three times weekly via Geneva, Switzerland, using the airline’s state-of-the-art Airbus A350-900 aircraft. The new service offers passengers greater travel flexibility while further strengthening air connectivity between Africa and Europe.

With the addition of Lyon, Ethiopian Airlines now serves three destinations in France—Lyon, Paris, and Marseille—underscoring its continued commitment to expanding its European network and delivering world-class travel experiences.

The new route is expected to deepen commercial, and people-to-people ties between Africa and France while providing seamless access to Ethiopian Airlines’ extensive network across the African continent.

Ethiopian Airlines Group Chief Executive Officer Mesfin Tasew said the airline remains dedicated to connecting Africa with the world through reliable, efficient, and customer-focused services.
