The Chairperson of the National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE), Melatework Hailu, has announced that results from 1,131 electoral constituencies have been received at the Board’s central verification center.
The Board provided its daily briefing on the post-election process following Ethiopia’s seventh general election. According to the update, provisional results from 1,131 of the country’s 1,139 electoral constituencies have already reached the verification center.
The remaining results include those from six constituencies in the Somali Region and one constituency in the Amhara Region. These have not yet arrived due to the long distances involved and the vast geographical coverage of the areas. Of the 501 constituencies for the House of Peoples’ Representatives, results from 497 constituencies have been submitted to the center. Similarly, out of the 638 constituencies for the Regional Councils, results from 634 constituencies have been received.
The Board indicated that the verification process is continuing as the outstanding results are expected to arrive in the coming days.
