Residents of Addis Ababa have described Ethiopia’s first-ever National Dialogue Conference as a significant milestone in strengthening national consensus and ensuring the country’s unity and development.
It is worth recalling that Ethiopia’s main National Dialogue Conference, which was held for 46 days, has successfully concluded.
According to residents of the capital, the consultation represents a major achievement that will help Ethiopia transition toward greater unity, development, and progress.
One of the participants, Sergeant Abdu Hussein, said the consultation created an opportunity to bring longstanding disagreements to the table and address them through dialogue. He added that it helped strengthen the values of unity and coexistence.
Another participant, Halima Mohammed, said resorting to force to resolve differences of opinion is an outdated approach.
She noted that the consultation created a conducive environment for resolving problems through civilized dialogue, adding, “A country built through dialogue is a winner. Ethiopia has now begun its journey toward victory.”
Abebe Kombe said the dialogue has laid a foundation that will benefit future generations and strengthen the unity of the country, adding that it could also serve as an example for other countries.
Zeritu Asse, meanwhile, noted that Ethiopia previously lacked a culture of resolving national problems through dialogue around the table.
She told the Ethiopian News Agency (ENA) that the consultation has significant importance in helping Ethiopia advance to a higher level by discussing and resolving its challenges through dialogue.
