Ethiopia’s House of Peoples Representatives is holding its 2nd regular session of the 5th year of the House of People’s Representatives meeting in the presence of his excellence Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed(PhD)
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed(PhD) has responded the basic questions raised by the members of the parliament this morning.
Addressing to the questions raised by members of the Parliament on the mega projects underway in Ethiopia, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed(PhD) said the design work of bishoftu mega airport is already completed. Previously, relocating farmers have been a great challenge. However, the relocation process is successfully done.
Prime Minister Abiy noted the mega air port which is going to be constructed near bishoftu town will have multi benefits to the communities living near by after completion.
Speaking at the second regular session of the 5th year of the House of People’s Representatives meeting, the Prime Minister said the new mega airport will have a capacity to accommodate 100 million passengers per year.
Upon completion, Bishoftu mega airport makes Ethiopian Airlines the largest airline in Africa
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed(PhD) reiterated that the construction of such mega project around Bishoftu position Ethiopian Airlines not only as a continental leader but also as a global aviation hub.
After the reform of the country, the infrastructural expansion works at Bole International airport have been done extensively. However, it was not satisfactory.
Addressing to the question related to mega projects performance, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed(PhD) said 10 Billion dollars is allocated for the construction of the new mega airport near Bishoftu Town.
Globally, Ethiopian Airlines has earned prestigious recognition for its service. At the 2025 SKYTRAX World Airline Awards, it won Best Airline in Africa for the eighth consecutive year.
