In a message posted on her official social media page, Addis Ababa Mayor Adanech Abiebie stated that the city administration is working diligently to enhance efficiency and improve service delivery across the capital.
The mayor noted that the administration has begun using a new camera technology capable of capturing both voice and images integrated into the receipts control system at revenue offices. She added that, similarly, the city has now launched a new integrated digital civil registration and residency service system designed to further modernize public service delivery.

According to Mayor Adanech, the new system enables clients to access services remotely through their mobile phones or other digital tools without the need for physical presence. It also eliminates mandatory form-filling, and facilitates data sharing and coordination among key institutions such as Immigration, Health, Courts, the National ID program, and others.
Mayor highlighted that the Civil Registration and Vital Statistics with ID System, now operational, replaces various previously paper-based processes.
“The integrated system strengthens our efforts to curb fraudulent practices, enhance transparency, and make our ongoing comprehensive reform initiatives more effective,” she emphasized.
Finally, the Mayor conveyed her heartfelt gratitude on behalf of herself and the residents of Addis Ababa city, Director General of the Ethiopia Artificial Intelligence Institute, Worku Gachena(PhD), the institute’s professionals, as well as the officials and the staff of the Civil Registration and Residency Agency for developing and deploying this important technology.
