Adanech Abiebie, Mayor of Addis Ababa, announced this afternoon on her official social media platform that the city administration has handed over workspace sheds to 1,278 enterprises.

“Today, we have provided workplace sheds to 1,278 enterprises,” she stated.

In her message, the mayor reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to supporting productive citizens, emphasizing, “We encourage working hands.” She noted that a total of 3,889 individuals are expected to benefit from this.

Mayor Adanech highlighted the critical role of hard work in overcoming poverty. She also underscored that most of the sheds were constructed swiftly and efficiently, allowing for their timely handover to beneficiaries.

“We are working tirelessly to transform the work culture in our city,” she said, “to shape a generation that is committed to hard work, self-reliance, and achieving success through personal effort.”

The mayor stressed that poverty cannot be overcome through discussion alone, but by making use of available opportunities.

She further emphasized that addressing poverty is not solely the responsibility of the government, but requires collective effort.

Addressing the beneficiaries, she urged them to make the most of the support provided: “Those of you who have received workspaces are expected to work diligently and grow into owners of large companies.”

Mayor Adanech also called on them to contribute to national development, noting that they have been organized into enterprises and provided with training. “I entrust you to grow together, to transform together, and to contribute to the development of our country,” she concluded.
