Addis Ababa, Ethiopia’s capital, offers significant investment opportunities for both domestic and foreign investors, driven by its strategic location, expanding urban economy, growing market, and rising demand for goods and services.
Gete Andualem (PhD), a researcher at Addis Ababa University (AAU), has highlighted the city’s competitive advantages and investment potential in an exclusive interview with Addis Media Network (AMN).
To identify key investment opportunities and assess the contribution of investment to the city’s development, a research team led by Gete Andualem (PhD) conducted a study in collaboration with the Addis Ababa City Administration Investment Commission.
The study focuses on identifying promising investment areas, evaluating the role of investment in urban development, and exploring ways to create a more attractive and conducive business environment.
According to the researcher, investment plays a vital role in accelerating economic growth, creating employment opportunities, improving public services, and raising residents’ living standards.
The study also highlights that promoting productive investment could help Addis Ababa diversify its economic base, expand job opportunities for young people, and improve public access to goods and services while supporting sustainable urban development.
Furthermore, the research examines the relationship between investment policies and their practical implementation. It underscores the importance of stronger collaboration among the city administration, investment institutions, the private sector, and other stakeholders to translate Addis Ababa’s investment potential into tangible economic and social benefits.
