A continental forum dedicated to advancing job creation across Africa through practical policy solutions will be held for the first time in Addis Ababa on June 11–12, 2026.

Organized by the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), the forum aims to bridge the gap between academic research and policy implementation, ensuring that evidence-based solutions are translated into tangible development outcomes.

The conference, titled Africa Development and Implementation Forum (ADIF 2026), will be held under the theme: “Innovative Solutions and Best Practices for Scaling Job Creation in Africa.”

The forum aligns with Africa’s urgent need to address the challenges and opportunities presented by its rapidly growing youth population, with the continent requiring the creation of more than 15 million jobs annually.

Unlike conventional continental meetings, ADIF 2026 is designed as an action-oriented platform focused on accelerating policy implementation and improving operational mechanisms for job creation.

The initiative seeks to transform research findings that have remained unimplemented due to funding and capacity constraints into practical actions, scale up successful pilot projects, and integrate proven African best practices into national economic policies.

The forum is expected to make a significant contribution to ensuring that development investments across Africa deliver sustainable and measurable results. To strengthen effectiveness and accountability, organizers have established a comprehensive implementation framework to guide activities before, during, and after the conference.

The Commission also announced that future editions of the forum will be linked through complementary annual themes, promoting continuity, knowledge-sharing, and stronger collaboration among African countries.

Upcoming forums are expected to address additional development priorities, including strengthening the implementation of the , advancing continental industrialization strategies, and supporting broader economic transformation efforts across Africa.
