Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh Ethiopia has celebrated the 19th National Flag Day, underscoring the national flag’s significance as a symbol of unity, the values of Medemer (synergy), and the country’s aspirations for sustainable development and shared prosperity.
In a message shared on his official social media account, Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh said the national flag represents far more than a national emblem. It embodies the sacrifices of previous generations, reflects the dedication and hard work of today’s citizens, and symbolizes the nation’s vision for a brighter and more prosperous future.
He reaffirmed the Medemer government’s commitment to advancing Ethiopia through national unity, peace, development, and comprehensive prosperity, with the ultimate goal of elevating the country to greater heights.
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that the national flag should serve as a symbol of unity in diversity rather than a source of division. He noted that despite differences in ethnicity, language, culture, and religion, Ethiopians share a common national identity and a collective aspiration to build a peaceful, prosperous, and developed nation.
According to Temesgen, the philosophy of Medemer calls on citizens to embrace their differences as a source of strength, reinforce their shared values, and work together to realize Ethiopia’s full potential. He stressed that cooperation, mutual understanding, and a shared sense of responsibility are essential to transforming the country’s aspirations for national progress into tangible achievements.
On the occasion of the 19th National Flag Day, the Deputy Prime Minister called on Ethiopians to honor the national flag by strengthening their commitment to unity, peace, national sovereignty, and prosperity, translating these shared values into meaningful action.
Temesgen concluded by extending his best wishes to all Ethiopians on the occasion of the 19th National Flag Day, calling for renewed dedication to building a united, peaceful, and prosperous Ethiopia.
