Mayor of Addis Ababa Adanech Abiebie stated that Ethiopians have thwarted a conspiracy coordinated by internal bandits and external forces that was intended to divert the nation-building process from the right path of a democratic system and lead the country toward destruction through force and violence.
According to her, the Ethiopian people demonstrated their determination, rejected the plot, and showed a strong sense of patriotism through their participation in the democratic election.
She particularly highlighted the people of Addis Ababa, noting that despite the long queues, sleep deprivation, and cold weather, they remained in line until 10:30 PM to cast their votes.
She described this as a remarkable display of courage, dedication, determination, and perseverance.
She further emphasized that politicians and elites in the country should be the ones who understand, appreciate, and support such a strong, determined, and resilient people.
