COP31 Climate High-Level Champion Samed Ağırbaş said Türkiye is interested in cooperating with Ethiopia in the sectors enabling to eradicate climate change.
The two countries held discussions enabling work together in the areas of climate change mitigation.
As Türkiye is set to host the UN climate change Cop31 in collaboration with Australia, it wants to work together with Ethiopia in multilateral cooperation according to Samed Ağırbaş, COP31 Climate High-Level Champion.
He expressed his country’s commitment to support Ethiopia’s climate change mitigation efforts.
The COP31 Climate High-Level Champion, Samed Ağırbaş reaffirmed Türkiye’s readiness to cooperatively work with Ethiopia in the sectors that enable mitigate climate change challenges.
Minister of Planning and Development Fitsum Assefa (PhD) said Ethiopia is endeavoring to be part of the solution to climate change which is a global challenge.
She mentioned that the ongoing 8th round green legacy program is also part of this solution, the Minister noted.
The Minister confirmed that Ethiopia will work with Türkiye both in climate change summit cooperation and other frameworks.
Both sides also discussed comprehensive preparations for the UN Climate Change Conference (COP 31) and experiences that Ethiopia intends to share as it prepares to host the UN climate change COP32.
According to the Ministry of Planning and Development, apart from COP31 Climate High-Level Champion, Samed Ağırbaş, Türkiye’s Ambassador to Ethiopia Berk Baran and other stakeholders have taken part in the discussion.
Ethiopia is the official host of the 2027 United Nations Climate Change Conference, known as COP32.
