Mayor of Addis Ababa Adanech Abiebie, after casting her ballot at the General Jagama Kello Polling Station in the Nifas Silk-Lafto Sub-City constituency, told the media that the election process is proceeding smoothly at polling stations across the capital.
She added that voting is being conducted in a democratic, free, fair, and transparent manner. According to the mayor, the media are covering the election freely.
Commenting on public participation, the mayor stated that citizens have been exercising their democratic rights by arriving at polling stations early in the morning to cast their ballots.
She noted that voters are freely choosing the leaders they believe will best serve their interests, without pressure from anyone and in the absence of any activities that could negatively affect the voting process.
“Not only at this polling station where we are, but also at polling stations throughout the city, the election process is proceeding smoothly,” she said.
