Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) has been reappointed as Prime Minister of Ethiopia for another five-year term in office.
His appointment follows a public vote cast during the 7th Ethiopian General election held on June 1, 2026.
It is worth recalling that the prosperity part won a majority of the votes in the 7th General election.
Prosperity party has nominated Abiy Ahmed (PhD) for appointment and presented the nomination to the House of Peoples’ Representatives during the formation of the new government and the opening session of the joint hoses held today.
Following the endorsement of his appointment, the Prime Minister was sworn in.
