Addis Ababa city administration loyal taxpayers recognition ceremony is being held at Addis International convention center in Addis Ababa.
Speaking at the recognition ceremony, Addis Ababa city administration revenue bureau head Beniyam Mikru said the bureau has undergone comprehensive and holistic reform to bring remarkable achievement in the sector.
Mayor of the city Adanech Abiebie said the number of loyal taxpayers have increased as compared to last years performance.
She further stated paying tax is the duty and the responsibility of Ethiopian citizens.
“The finance which is being collected from the taxpayers in general is being used for transforming the city of Addis Ababa one step from the previous one,” Mayor Adanech Abibie said at the recognition ceremony. Moreover, the finance which is collected from loyal taxpayers is also used for school meal feeding program in Addis Ababa.
According to Addis Ababa City Administration Revenue Bureau over 360 loyal taxpayers were honored for their contributions in the 2017 concluded budget year, comprising 54 Platinum-level, 114 Gold-level, and 193 Silver-level awardees.
The loyal taxpayers recognition ceremony is underway with the presence of speaker of the house of federation and guest of honor Agegneh Teshager, Minister of Revenue, Ayenalem Nigussie, Ethiopian Customs Commission Commissioner, Debele Kabeta, Senior government official of the Federal and the City Administration.
