Mayor Adanech Abiebie highlighted that the development of Piasa and the city’s riverside areas has completely transformed Addis Ababa’s visual appeal. Projects like Arada Park and Piasa were completed in a remarkably short period, enhancing both the city’s beauty and its identity.
Previously neglected riverside areas have been revitalized to preserve the natural flow of the river while harmonizing with the surrounding landscape, creating visually appealing and accessible public spaces. Buildings in these areas are designed to blend seamlessly with nature, offering a refreshing and uplifting atmosphere for residents and visitors alike.

Even before the official opening, residents were already enjoying these spaces, a development that has brought satisfaction to the city administration. Beyond serving as recreational sites, these projects are turning Addis Ababa into a modern urban center.
The initiatives also include new, attractive roads and pedestrian pathways, improving convenience and the overall urban experience. By replacing old, deteriorating structures with modern designs and expanding shared public spaces, the cityscape has become more contemporary and accessible.
Mayor Adanech emphasized that this success reflects a collaborative effort between the government, private sector, and community members.
