Ethiopia is advancing its diplomatic agenda at the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York, with President Taye Atske Selassie leading efforts focused on Africa’s interests, regional stability and economic development.
Under the theme “Restoring Trust, Managing Transformation,” Ethiopia is calling for a more inclusive global system that gives greater consideration to Africa and other developing nations.
President Taye has highlighted the need for greater investment in green-energy infrastructure, including power grids and connectivity, to turn Africa’s renewable-energy potential into economic growth.
Regional peace and security in the Horn of Africa also remain key priorities. Discussions with UN Secretary-General António Guterres and other international leaders have focused on cooperation, stability and peaceful solutions.
Ethiopia is also emphasizing the importance of sustainable maritime access and regional connectivity for economic development across the Horn of Africa.
During the UNGA week, Ethiopia has held talks with leaders from Finland, the United States and other partners, focusing on security, trade, development and stronger international cooperation.
