Mayor Adanech Conveys Irreecha Best Wishes, Highlights Festival’s Role in Promoting Tourism and Togetherness

Addis Ababa Mayor Adanech Abiebie has extended her warm wishes to Ethiopians on the occasion of the Irreecha festival, describing the celebration as a symbol of peace, love, forgiveness, unity and gratitude for the God’s blessings and generosity.

In her message, the Mayor said Irreecha is a time when people express gratitude for the blessings of the Creator, renew their covenant with nature, and celebrate peace, love, forgiveness and togetherness.

Mayor Adanech said Addis Ababa has been decorated for the Irreecha celebration and is more prepared than ever to promote tourism, hospitality, peace and the city’s natural and cultural beauty. She noted that the festivity is also contributing to the revitalization of the city’s economy.

This year’s Irreecha is being celebrated under the theme “Irreecha for National Consensus.” To mark the occasion, Addis Ababa has organized a range of cultural and artistic programs, including concerts, panel discussions, sporting competitions, festivals and photo exhibitions, among other activities.

Mayor Adanech further said the city has completed preparations to welcome guests arriving from different parts of Ethiopia and abroad, with residents ready to demonstrate the capital’s long-standing culture of hospitality, cooperation and welcoming spirit.

She described Irreecha as a shared source of pride and a major platform for showcasing Addis Ababa’s tourism potential, capacity and cultural richness to the world.

Mayor Adanech called on residents of Addis Ababa to celebrate the festival in a spirit of love and solidarity, warmly welcoming fellow Ethiopians arriving from different parts of the country and demonstrating the city’s renowned tradition of hospitality.

“Once again, I wish you all a peaceful and festive Irreecha celebration,” Mayor Adanech said in her message.
